Theoretically Lost

Ever heard of Atlantis? In the event that you haven't, allow me to explain. Atlantis is a legend that first occurs in works by the Greek philosopher Plato. He mentions a continent or island that is swallowed by the sea overnight. Rumors circulate that Atlantis was extremely wealthy, powerful and advanced. There has always been talk of people of the past being even more advanced than we are today, do you believe there is truth in that? Take the ancient geoglyphs in the Middle East for example.

Or Even in Peru, where you see geoglyphs of animals and such.

Might this hint at civilizations thousands of years ago being more advanced than we gave them credit for? Atlantis is a supposedly lost continent, fabled, even legend. Since I am defining and explaining things, let me clarify legend here. A legend will often have truth to it, it derives from some kind of fact. Before we had a written language, all the stories of ancestors were told through storytellers, and the mind. As generations went on, they were bound to lose information, until only the core of the legend is there. That is where Atlantis is for most people, the core.
     I am no scientist, to tell you if it geographically probable, nor am I any kind of spiritual leader to direct you to the underlying religious context. Atlantis has always been one of those things to fascinate me, along with the Bermuda triangle, tarot, old religions, names, genealogy and numerology. Unfortunately, there isn't to much substantial evidence to back up my thoughts. That's okay right? It's a theory. Is it possible to LOSE a whole continent, with how advanced we are lately? Satellite images pick up all sorts of things, and any abnormalities never go undetected anymore. This in mind, might we consider that it isn't lost, just unknown? Recent discoveries has lead archaeologists and geologists to believe that Atlantis was in fact a part off of what we know now as Spain. With only a core to go off of, did it occur that it might be out there -- renamed, because someone, somewhere stepped on the land with a flag?
     It is said that Atlantis was swallowed by the sea, in ancient times. We know now about tsunamis and tidal waves and such, so this idea is not so far-fetched as it might have been 200 years ago. As I bring up 200 years ago, I would like to point out that this subject was by far less popular than it is in modern times. Back on topic though, since we all have heard of the total destruction a tsunami can cause. With that in mind, the idea is not as hard to comprehend. Based on the size of the area in Spain though, it is hard to believe it reached so far -- though not necessarily impossible.
    Now for the interesting part. Atlantis is often said to have been more advanced than we are now, and powerful. There are also ideas that Atlantis was very spiritual and help power through that as much as they did through science. One amazing myth I have heard with it is that the two sections fought so hard that they brought on the tidal wave. Myth, meaning a way of explaining the unknown, we can likely take that out of serious consideration, but it is always cool to think about. 
    Atlantis is a long standing debate. Is it lost? Can it be found? What else is out there? With one answer, often 5 new questions will occur to ask. So tell me what you know. What have you heard?
